Gary Arnold spoke with our newly elected Shrimp Queens to discuss the upcoming 64th Annual Delcambre Shrimp Festival being held this weekend! The Shrimp Queens and Baby Shrimp King representing our community on the August 14th Passe Partout segment were:

Shrimp Queen, Camille Delcambre, and Teen Shrimp Queen, Sara Saunier, advised everyone of the upcoming events and bands entertaining the crowds throughout the weekend. On Friday the bands will include Kyle Wooten, Frank Foster and Wayne Toups. Then on Saturday morning, the much anticipated Shrimp Cookoff takes place, followed by the musical talents of Krossfyre, Beau Young, Jamie Bergeron and National Recording Artist, Tracy Lawrence. On Sunday, the Shrimper’s Mass starts the day off, followed by the Blessing of the Fleet. Throughout the day and closing out the festival will be entertainment by T.K. Hulin and Smoke with Willy T, Warren Storm and GG Shin.
TAMMY GORDON WITH PORT OF DELCAMBRE
Gary Arnold then spoke with Port of Delcambre Representative, Tammy Gordon, who discussed the exciting changes taking places in Delcambre this week. On Monday, the new water tower was revealed which we’re excited to have “Delcambre Shrimp Festival” emblazoned on it for everyone to easily see. This announcement was followed by the opening of the new 4 bay boat dock and fishing pier, which also includes slips available for several shrimp boats to dock and sell shrimp directly to the public. Tammy then advised the public is invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on September 6th, celebrating the Grand Opening of the new Pavilion which will take place at 11:00am. Following the ceremony is the opening of the Seafood & Farmer’s Market at the new Pavilion, with various bands entertaining the crowds throughout the day. The Delcambre Shrimp Festival corresponds with the opening of the shrimp season, which begins Monday for Vermilion Bay.
JASON MIGUES AND HIS COLD SHRIMP PASTA SALAD RECIPE
Jason Migues was also featured talking about his quick and easy Cold Shrimp Pasta Salad, which he says is one of his personal favorites and will be served at the Shrimp Festival. Preparation of Jason’s dish involved boiling, separately, pasta (he used tri-colored rotini), shrimp and eggs. He then mixed the preboiled ingredients together in a bowl with some celery, bell pepper, sweet pickle, cucumber and tomato, then added Tony Chachere’s for seasoning and mayonnaise to his preferred consistency. After he finished, it looked delectable and was ready to serve! Quick and easy!!
Jason also spoke of the cookoff on Saturday. There’s still time to register and you can do so by going to www.yourfestival.net and register your team there. In addition to Jason’s cold shrimp pasta salad, he advised that at the cookoff there will be just about every shrimp dish you could imagine, including: fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, shrimp sauce piquante, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp poboys, as well as other shrimp dishes fresh out of Vermilion Bay! So get those taste buds ready and join everyone at this year’s 64th Annual Delcambre Shrimp Festival this weekend!
