The U.S. Chamber of Commerce provides a guide to The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program, the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses who maintain their payroll during this emergency. Employers: Take Note of New COVID-19 Federal Paid Leave Provisions On March 18, 2020, President Trump signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to address, in part, employment-related issues pertaining to COVID-19. The legislation is the second COVID-19 federal relief effort, following the $8 billion emergency funding bill for prevention, preparation, and response. Congress has introduced a third package covering additional issues, including small business relief.
